Thanksgiving Family Worship

Please have one Family Member Leading the Worship.

Jesus is worthy in every place—at home, at church, and everywhere we go!

1. Confession of Faith (All together)

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

3. Prayer (One person)

Loving Heavenly Father, on this Thanksgiving Day, we thank You for gathering our family together to remember the grace and love You have poured out on us throughout the year 2025 and for leading us to worship You as one. Even in the midst of life’s hardships and trials,You have provided for our needs and guided us on the good and righteous path. We confess in faith that it is You—our God—who has done all these things. We now offer our hearts before You; please receive them with joy. Help our family never forget our gratitude toward You, and enable us to serve You each day. Would you bless us so that our home may become an example of faith to our neighbors and those around us.

We give thanks and pray all this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. Scripture - Colossians 3:15-17 (One person)

15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

5. Message - (One person)

Most people hope to live a happy life. Many famous sayings teach that the secret to a happy life is gratitude. There is also a saying, “Small gratitude brings great happiness.” Even worldly wisdom emphasizes thankfulness. However, Christian gratitude does not come merely from practical life wisdom or a positive mindset. It is the confession of faith that comes from obeying God’s command. We have a clear object of our gratitude—God, who gives us life and grace and who has opened the way of salvation for us.

This life of gratitude is not controlled by emotions or circumstances. It becomes possible through the peace we receive in Christ. It is not money, feelings, or the standards of the world that should govern our hearts, but the peace that the Lord gives. The anxiety, worry, and fear that arise within us are reactions that come when our hearts follow the standards of the world. But when Christ’s peace rules in our hearts, we can give thanks even in times of confusion. Why? Because we believe that our lives are in God’s hands, and His good will for us will surely come to pass.

We can also give thanks when the word of Christ dwells richly within us. “Dwelling richly” means that the Word does not remain as mere knowledge, but rules and shapes our lives. When the Word leads us, the world may see lack and insufficiency, but we become thankful for the grace we have been given. Instead of only seeing the problems, we gain hope as we look beyond them to the Lord who holds our lives. For God’s Word is not simply written text—it is His living and active power at work even now.

When this becomes true in us, we can give thanks to God in every area of life. This is because there is nothing we have that did not come from the Lord. From the moment we open our eyes in the morning until we go to bed at night, in everything we think, say, and do, the Lord is with us and guides us. Because of His grace and His leading, we are able to live each day.

Therefore, we must have a heart of gratitude to God. Gratitude is not optional—it is the basic posture of life we are called to have. To live confessing that everything is God’s grace—that is the life of thankfulness. Think about all the time God has given our family this year. Not a single thing was guaranteed. It was all grace. And because of that, we must give thanks to God.

We pray that our family will always be a home that gives thanks to the Lord.
